The commencement of the work year 2020, commenced with the hosting of the national flag by High Commissioner Air Chief Marshal Kapila Veedhiya Bandara on 01 January 2020 at the High Commission.
The High Commissioner hoisted the national flag, followed by singing of the national anthem by all members of the staff thereafter Officials took the Oath of the Public Servants.
The event was followed up with the multi religious observance. Chief Priest of Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields Most Venerable Datuk K Sri Dhammaratana Maha Nayaka Thero, Chief Priest of Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple Sentul Most Venerable Bhante Saranankara Thero invoked blessings by Chanting Pirith and Ustaz Molavi Mohamed Salih Momed Isaq from kambung Panda Masjid held Muslim religious observances.
The High Commissioner, having extended New Year wishes, stated in his brief remarks that the public servants are duty bound to implement the policies and the instructions of the government. He requested the staff to discharge their duties with utmost dedication and commitment and look after the wellbeing of Sri Lankan Community in Malaysia.
The event was concluded by sharing traditional Sri Lankan milk rice and sweetmeats.
