Commencement of the Work for Year 2024 by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bahrain

The staff of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Bahrain ceremonially commenced work for the year 2024, with a special programme held at the Embassy premises on Wednesday, 01 January 2024.

The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag of Sri Lanka at the chancery premises by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain H.M.G.R.R.K. Wijeratne Mendis, followed by the singing of the National Anthem of Sri Lanka by the Embassy staff. A two minutes silence was observed to commemorate war heroes and all those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland. The oath of public servants was read by the staff thereafter.

Emphasizing the policies and programmes of President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesighe and the government of Sri Lanka under the theme “A Prelude to the Stable Future”, Ambassador Wijeratne Mendis requested the staff to provide efficient and effective service to the public during year 2024 contributing to the country’s economic and social development.

The Ambassador further stated that in line with the policy framework of the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Annual Action Plan, the Embassy will focus on promoting trade, investment, tourism, foreign employment and increase remittances in 2024.

Ven. Matara Vijayaseeha Thero conducted pirith chanting ceremony at the chancery premises invoking blessings on the Ambassador and the staff of the Embassy for the new year.

A traditional new year breakfast was served at the conclusion of the official ceremony.
