Sri Lanka is experiencing a tourism boom after emerging from more than a quarter century of strife, with its chic and stylish new breed of hotels proving to be a huge tourist draw card, CNN Travel reports.

“Sri Lanka, the teardrop-shaped island that in 2009 emerged from more than a quarter century of civil war, has staked a claim as one of Asia’s most exciting new destinations. With the beaches of Negombo and Galle on the West Coast and World Heritage-listed ancient cities, Sri Lanka is experiencing a tourism boom”.

“As the country’s tourism offerings have grown more sophisticated, so have its hotels,” CNN states.

The channel goes on to list a slew of Hotels and beach front guest houses that have proved a ready attraction to the increasing number of tourists to the island.

It directs the visitor to the well known tourist hot spots such as Negombo, Kalpitiya, the Southern coast and Nuwara Eliya quoting room rates and other details of some of the best hotels and guest houses.
