The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Milan hosted a Christmas themed country promotional event at the Chancery premises on 09 December 2024. The event saw the participation of the members of the consular corps, officials of regional Italian authorities, travel journalists, vloggers and entrepreneurs. This reception brought Christmas cheers to the audience with a Sri Lankan ambiance. The Consulate General premises were adorned with cheerful Christmas decorations arranged by the staff of the Consulate General.
Sri Lankan Christmas themed songs were played during the arrival and welcoming of the guests, and a live performance of Sri Lankan calypso music by a two-member band further enhanced the festive vibes.
Addressing the gathering, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Milan, Dilani Weerakoon detailed the fusion of Christmas and Sri Lankan traditional treats being served - starting from flavourful Sri Lankan beverages and uniquely Sri Lankan dishes such as hoppers, kotthu roti, watalappam to– an assortment of Ceylon teas and cinnamon drink that added a finishing touch to the evening.
Reiterating that as a tourist destination Sri Lanka has the diversified capacity to cater to everyone’s holiday expectations, the Consul General invited the guests in the audience to visit Sri Lanka in the new year for an experience of a lifetime. The invitation was further allured with country promotional videos which were played throughout the event.
Distinguished guested who graced the occasion praised the authentic Sri Lankan delicacies served and the live culinary station that offered a first-time experience for most of the audience. Further, the guests extended their wishes for holidays and the new year 2025 to the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Milan, staff of the Consulate General and all Sri Lankans.
