The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Germany together with the Sri Lanka Association in Berlin, celebrated the dawn of Christmas on Saturday, 23rd of December 2017 at the Embassy premises.
The programme started with a special Christmas prayer officiated by Rev.Father Vincent Karatunga of St. Bernard’s Church in Berlin who bestowed blessings upon all the participants and Sri Lankans for a happy and a prosperous year ahead. Christmas Carols were performed in Sinhala, Tamil, English and German languages and the Christmas ambience was generated by the presence of a Santa Claus and decorations at the venue.
Extending warm greetings to the guests, Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Germany Karunasena Hettiarachchi explained the significance of celebrating Christmas, which symbolizes the unity and harmony among Sri Lanka’s rich cultural diversity.
The event brought together around 150 guests and they were entertained with a sumptuous Sri Lankan dinner arranged by the Embassy staff.
The celebrations concluded on a note of happiness and unity among all Sri Lankans living in Germany, looking forward for a Christmas and a New Year full of peace and happiness.
