The staff of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Indonesia ceremonially commenced work for the year 2020, with a special programme held at the Embassy premises on 02 January 2020.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag of Sri Lanka at the Chancery premises by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Indonesia Yasoja Gunasekara, followed by the singing of the National Anthem of Sri Lanka by the Embassy staff. Thereafter, two minutes silence was observed to commemorate war heroes and all those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the Motherland. The Oath of Public Servants was read by the staff thereafter.
The Ambassador in her brief remarks quoted the New Year Messages of President Gotabaya Rajapakse and emphasized the importance of effective and efficient service delivery as it is envisaged in the policy statement of President Rajapakse “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour”.
In keeping with the tradition, the staff of the Embassy participated in religious observances which was followed by the lighting of the traditional oil lamp and traditional Sri Lankan delicacies.
