The staff of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai commenced work for the year 2024 with a special programme held at the Consulate General premises on 01 January 2024.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag of Sri Lanka by Consul General Alexi Gunasekera, followed by the singing of the National Anthem of Sri Lanka. Two minutes of silence was observed to commemorate war heroes and all those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland. The oath of public servant was read by the Consul General and the members of the staff.
Addressing the staff, Consul General Alexi Gunasekera extended his best wishes for the New Year and expressed gratitude for the hard work and dedication of the Consulate General staff throughout the previous year.
"Trade, tourism, and investment are pivotal pillars for the growth of our nation. Despite the challenges we face, we have a unique opportunity to contribute to the stability and prosperity of Sri Lanka " said Consul General Gunasekera. "As we commence our work for 2024, let us collectively focus on creating opportunities that will not only benefit our economy but also deepen the bonds between nations" he added.
The official ceremony concluded with serving traditional Sri Lankan sweetmeats.
