Celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with Sri Lankan Students in Guangzhou

Celebrating the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Sri Lankan students of Sun Yat Sen Medical University and Jinnan University in Guangzhou had a get together with the participation of Consul General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou Priyangika Dharmasena on 13 April 2019 at the Sun Yat Sen University.

At the event, the Consul General conveyed her happiness at seeing Sri Lankan traditions being carried afar overseas, with many Sri Lankan students dressed in traditional clothing, table laden with customary sweetmeats, gathered to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year in China, despite being far away from the motherland. She urged the students to continue such activities in the future.
