Â“Invest Sri Lanka Â–Time is nowÂ” Seminar, on 26th November 2009, Singapore

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Sri Lanka jointly organized a seminar titled,” Invest Sri Lanka –Time is now” on 26th November 2009 at the Fullerton Hotel in Singapore with the twin objectives of disseminating first hand information on emerging business opportunities in Sri Lanka in the post conflict era and attracting institutional investors in Singapore to invest in Colombo Stock Exchange, which is one of the five best permeag markets at present.

Sri LankaÂ’s Ambassador to Kuwait speaks on Post-war Sri Lanka

On a joint invitation extended by the University of Kuwait and the Kuwait Historical Society, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Sarath Dissanayake delivered a speech at the University auditorium on 23rd November on the theme “Post-war Sri Lanka – Opportunities & Way Forward” with special emphasis on the Role of the International Community, to a well attended gathering of academic staff, students, members of the cooperate sector, media, Sri Lankan community and well-wishers. The event was held under the distinguished patronage of Prof. Sheika Maymounah Khalifa Al-Sabah, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and President of the Kuwait Historical Society and was presided over by Dr. Abdullah M. Alhajeri, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, University of Kuwait.

Sri Lankan community in Georgia expresses appreciation for Embassy outreach program – Ambassador, Diplomats Take Part in First-Ever Community Meeting in Atlanta

Ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya recognized members of the Sri Lankan Diaspora for their support for the nation’s post-conflict development and reconciliation efforts during a day-long meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. He expressed gratitude to the Sri Lankan community for their commitment to Sri Lanka both during the recently concluded conflict with the terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, as well as afterward.

Commonwealth Remembrance Day Service in Nairobi

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Nairobi organized the Commonwealth Remembrance Day Service Programme on Sunday the 08th of November 2009 at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, at Ngong Road, Nairobi. Religious leaders of the Roman Catholic and Protestant sectors - Islam, Jewish, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism prayed for the souls of late war heros.

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing together with the National Gem and Jewellery Authority and Gem and Jewellery Association organized a colorful Sri Lanka Pavilion at the International Gem and Jewellry Fair 2009 from November 5th to 9th at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing.

Sri Lanka Donates Corneas to South Africa

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pretoria in partnership with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society and Pretoria Eye Institute, participated in a ceremony to officially hand over five corneas donated by the Sri Lankan Eye Donation Society to the Pretoria Eye Institute on 04th November 2009 at the Pretoria Eye Institute in Pretoria. Dr. H S Casim, Medical Director of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society, and Mr. Janath Matara Arachchi participated in the event representing Eye Donation Society of Sri Lanka.
