Celebrations of the 65thAnniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka and the 35thAnniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea

To mark the above significant occasions, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul organized four outstanding events in South Korea with the participation of a large number of Sri Lankan nationals, Koreans and foreigners.

1)In the morning of February 4th, members of the Sri Lankan Embassy celebrated the 65th Anniversary of Sri Lanka’s Independence. Despite the-15oC temperature, staff braved the frigid weather conditions to celebrate the event held on the premises of the Embassy in Seoul. The hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador Tissa Wijeratne was followed by singing of the Sri Lankan National Anthem. The event also honoured Sri Lanka’s multi-religious culture by representing the four main religions of Sri Lanka: Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. Following, light refreshments were served.

Ottawa Celebrates the Sri Lanka National Day

Amidst freezing temperatures and a snow covered city, the Sri Lanka High Commission in Ottawa together with the Sri Lankan community and well-wishers celebrated the 65th Anniversary of the National Day on 10th February at the prestigious National Library & Archives Auditorium.

‘Sri Lanka Day’ at the Surajkund International Crafts Mela in India

Sri Lanka’s National Crafts Council, with the assistance of the Sri Lanka High Commission in New Delhi, arranged the participation of Sri Lankan craftspersons and artistes at the annual Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2013 from 1st – 15th February at Surajkund, Faridabad, Haryana. 

Sri Lankan craftspersons and artistes were among participants from over twenty other countries at the International Section of the Mela.
