Restrictions on issuing passports to Sri Lankan Citizens lifted
The Government has today, 1 June 2016, issued a circular ending the restrictions placed in March 2011 on the issuance of passports to Sri Lankan citizens resident abroad who, at different times, were compelled to leave Sri Lanka due to conflict or political reasons.
Visit of Norwegian State Secretary Tore Hattrem
State Secretary of Norway, Mr. Tore Hattrem called on Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera at the Foreign Ministry, today. At the meeting, Mr. Tore Hattrem informed the Foreign Minister that Norway would provide flood relief assistance to Sri Lanka amounting to US$ 600,000 through UNICEF.

Visit of Foreign Secretary of Jordan to Sri Lanka
The Foreign Secretary of the Kingdom of Jordan Moh’dTaisir Bani Yassin, visited Sri Lanka from May 18-20, 2016 for bilateral discussions with Sri Lankan officials. The visit is a part of the ongoing engagement between the two countries to explore new avenues for increased bilateral cooperation.
