Embassy of Sri Lanka in Egypt organized a Business Networking Session on 18 December 2019 at the Embassy Premises with the participation of prospective Egyptian Businessmen with regard to importing five selected potential products from Sri Lanka, namely; Ceylon Tea, Coconut Products, Rubber Products, Spices and Sea Food.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Egypt Damayanthie Rajapakse made the introductory remarks at the opening of the Business meeting, while the Commercial Secretary Shiwanthi Abeyrathne made a presentation on the Sri Lankan products.

The samples and pamphlets of the selected products received from Sri Lanka Export Development Board were displayed and distributed among the interested importers. A variety of Ceylon Tea was served to the participants, at the end of the programme.

This will be the first step towards conducting a Buyer and Seller meeting in January 2020 in Cairo, under Economic Diplomacy Programme initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka, where the importers of the selected items from Egypt and the exporters from Sri Lanka will be brought together under one platform in Cairo, for effective networking among the businessmen, aimed at augmenting trade relations between the two countries.

This event took place close on the heels on the official visit to Egypt, undertaken by the Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka Ravinatha Aryasinha, intended to further strengthen relations between Egypt and Sri Lanka to the level it deserves in trade, investment, technology and knowledge sharing.
