A 520 page book titled "They came from Jaffna", authored by Ms. Indra Rani Lavan Iswaran and supported by National Heritage Board of Singapore, was launched at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Singapore on 23rd March 2019.
The book provides a historical culinary journey with snippets of history, tales of roots and family narratives of pioneer migrant community from Jaffna that eventually settled in Singapore.
Singapore's Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat was the guest of honour for the launch of the book. Actg. High Commissioner Ameer Ajwad participated at the launch. A large number of dignitaries who are Sri Lankan origin graced the occasion.
Mrs. Indra R L Iswaran who is a Sri Lankan Tamil origin, had also authored the book titled: "Celebrating 100 Years - The Singapore Ceylon Tamils' Association". She was the founder, designer and the first editor of Palmyra, the Singapore Ceylon Tamil Association (SCTA) newsletter and SANGHU, the Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Temple (SSVT) newsletter. Mrs. Indra served as the only female President of SCTA, which is one of the oldest registered associations in Singapore.
