Ambassador Shani Calyaneratne Karunaratne, who arrived in Beirut on 08 September 2019 presented her the Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Michel Aoun on 11 September 2019 at the Presidential Palace, Baabda, Beirut.
The Lebanese Presidential guards accorded military ceremonial courtesies to the Sri Lanka’s Ambassador at the commencement of the ceremony. The Ambassador conveyed warm greetings from the President Maithripala Sirisena to President Aoun, and assured to further strengthen the cordial bilateral relations that exist between the two countries.
In response, President Aoun recalled that Lebanon is home to a larger migrant expatriate population from Sri Lanka. The Lebanese President also congratulated Ambassador Karunaratne and wished her a very successful tenure.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, and Foreign Ministry's Secretary-General Ambassador Hani Smaitili.
Head of Chancery Chathuri Perera, Counsellor Employment and Labour Welfare P.K.T. Hettiarachchi and Second Secretary Labour Section of the Embassy T. Luxmidharan accompanied the Ambassador to the Ceremony.
