Ambassador Karannagoda meets Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs in Japan

Ms.Makiko Kikuta, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs invited Ambassador Admiral (Rtd.) Wasantha Karannagoda for a meeting on Wednesday, 13th April to acknowledge Sri Lanka’s solidarity towards the Government and people of Japan.

Ms.Makiko Kikuta, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs invited Ambassador Admiral (Rtd.) Wasantha Karannagoda for a meeting on Wednesday, 13th April to acknowledge Sri Lanka’s solidarity towards the Government and people of Japan.

Vice Minister Makiko expressed her appreciation on behalf of the Government of Japan for Sri Lanka’s donation of US Dollars one million to the Japanese Red Cross Society and also the consignment of 3 million tea bags that are being sent for distribution among evacuees. Discussions were also held with regard to the relief and rescue team offered by the Sri Lankan Government for support in the debris clearance and mud clearance activities in the affected areas.

Vice Minister Makiko especially thanked Ambassador Karannagoda for Sri Lanka’s strong support expressed at this time and also paid special emphasis on the Ambassador’s visit to the Fukushima prefecture where he visited evacuation centres and distributed curry rice to the Japanese people.

The Vice Minister acknowledged the efforts and hard work of the Sri Lankan community in the distribution of food to the evacuees.
