Ambassador Jayatilleka meets the Apostolic Nuncio to discuss a requiem Mass for the victims of the terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday

On May 6, 2019 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka paid a visit to His Grace, Archbishop Celestino Migliore, Apostolic Nuncio to Russia, who has spent most of his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See in the UN (New York) USA, Egypt, France and Poland.

Ambassador Jayatilleka and Apostolic Nuncio Migliore spoke about the recent terrorist attacks by suicide bombers on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka on April 21, 2019. Ambassador Jayatilleka explained that there were no clashes between the Christian and Muslim minorities ever in the history of Sri Lanka.  The suicide bombers were well-educated Sri Lankans influenced by Islamist extremist ideology.

The Ambassador and Apostolic Nuncio discussed the possibility of conducting a mass in remembrance of more than 300 people who died and more than 500 people who were injured in the explosions, in the Roman-Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Moscow.
