On March 1, 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka had a productive luncheon discussion with Senator Konstantin Kosachev, PhD in Law, Russian politician and diplomat, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federation Council (Russian Parliament's Upper House), who was the disciple and aide to the prominent Russian Foreign Minister, later Prime Minister and Academician Evgeny Primakov. Doctor Kosachev previously served as head of Rossotrudnichestvo (the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation).
Senator Kosachev received Order for Merit to the Fatherland, 4th degree, Order of Honour and Order of Friendship for active participation in legislative work, strengthening the rule of law and many years of diligent work.
Ambassador Jayatilleka and Senator Kosachev had a substantive discussion on the global political situation taking the period from 1975 to today, the changing world order and the problems of maintenance of international law.
