Ambassador, Dr. Palitha Kohona has been designated the Chairman of the 8th Global Diplomats’ Chinese Cultural Night 2023. The spectacular event was organized by Look we at the Grand Ballroom of the China World Hotel on 30 March, 2023.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Palitha Kohona praised China for having made tremendous economic progress since opening up its economy. He said that China’s successful elimination of absolute poverty, consistent with the UN Sustainable Development Goal I, was an unprecedented achievement in human history. He went on to say that the elimination of poverty was an aspiration of all countries, to realise a world “where poverty, hunger and deprivation do not stalk anyone”. He also emphasized the need to deal with the threat of climate change which has to be addressed as a priority for the sake of “our children and their children.”
Dr. Kohona said that Sri Lanka is stable today and it was safe and open to tourists. It has been identified as a “must visit” destination with countless world class attractions, in particular the smiling hospitality of its people. He emphasized the important Buddhist sacred sites which attracted Chinese monks and traders for millennia. Dr. Kohona also invited Chinese investors to think of Sri Lanka as a desirable offshore location, in the middle of an economically booming region, when they were considering expanding overseas.
On the sidelines of the cultural night, which attracted over 600 participants from the diplomatic and business elite of Beijing, a forum was held on the internationalization of Chinese brands and Belt and Road Country Promotion. At this forum, Dr. Kohona also emphasized the need for Sri Lankan businesses/ products to gain wider access to the lucrative Chinese market which will contribute significantly in uplifting the poor of Sri Lanka and eliminating poverty.
Sri Lanka's Kandyan dancing duo entertained the audience at the event and a video of Sri Lanka's attractions was played on a large digital screen during the performance.

8 වැනි වරට පැවති ගෝලීය රාජ්‍යතාන්ත්‍රික නිලධාරීන්ගේ චීන සංස්කෘතික රාත්‍රිය- 2023 නමැති වැඩසටහනේ සභාපතිත්වය තානාපති ආචාර්ය පාලිත කොහොන මැතිතුමාට හිමි විය. මෙම විචිත්‍රවත් උත්සවය Lookwe ආයතනය විසින් 2023 මාර්තු 30 වැනි දින චයිනා වර්ල්ඩ් හෝටලයේ ග්‍රෑන්ඩ් බෝල්රූම් ශාලාවේ දී සංවිධානය කර තිබිණි.
මෙම උත්සවයට සහභාගි වූ පිරිස ඇමතූ ආචාර්ය පාලිත කොහොන මැතිතුමා, ආර්ථිකය ලොවට විවෘත කිරීමෙන් පසුව දැවැන්ත ආර්ථික ප්‍රගතියක් ලබා ගත් චීනය වෙත සිය ප්‍රශංසාව පළ කළේ ය. එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ 1 වැනි තිරසාර සංවර්ධන ඉලක්කයට අනුකූලව නිරපේක්ෂ දරිද්‍රතාවය සාර්ථකව තුරන් කිරීම හරහා චීනය මානව ඉතිහාසයේ පෙර නොවූ විරූ ආකාරයේ ජයග්‍රහණයක් ලබා ඇති බව සඳහන් කළේ ය. “දිළිඳුබව, කුසගින්න සහ විහිනතාවයෙන් තොර ලෝකයක් සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීම” සියලුම රටවල අපේක්ෂාව වන බවත් එතුමා වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කළේ ය. "අපගේ දරුවන් සහ ඔවුන්ගේ දරුවන්" ප්‍රමුඛතාවක් ලෙස සලකමින්, දේශගුණික විපර්යාස හා සබැඳි තර්ජනවලට මුහුණ දීමේ අවශ්‍යතාව පිළිබඳව ද එතුමා මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළේ ය.
ශ්‍රී ලංකාව වර්තමානය වන විට ස්ථාවර සහ ආරක්ෂිත තත්ත්වයක පවතින බවත් සංචාරකයින් සඳහා විවෘතව පවතින බවත් ආචාර්ය කොහොන මැතිතුමා පැවසී ය. ගණන් කළ නොහැකි ප්‍රමාණයේ ලෝක පූජිත ආකර්ෂණීය ස්ථාන සහ විශේෂයෙන්ම සිනාමුසු මුහුණින් යුතුව ආගන්තුක සත්කාර පිරිනමන මිනිසුන් සිටින ශ්‍රී ලංකාව "නැරඹිය යුතුම" ගමනාන්තයක් ලෙස හඳුනාගෙන ඇත. සහස්‍ර ගණනාවක් මුළුල්ලේ මෙරටට පැමිණි චීන ජාතික භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලා සහ වෙළඳුන් ආකර්ෂණය කරගැනීමට සමත් වූ බෞද්ධාගමික පූජනීය ස්ථාන පිළිබඳව ද එතුමා මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළේ ය. විදේශ රටවල් තුළ ව්‍යාප්ත වීම කිරීම කෙරෙහි චීන ආයෝජකයින් සිය අවධානය යොමු කර ඇති බැවින්, ආර්ථික වශයෙන් දියුණු කලාපයක් මධ්‍යයේ පිහිටි ප්‍රියජනක අක්වෙරළ මධ්‍යස්ථානයක් ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකාව සලකන ලෙස ආචාර්ය කොහොන මැතිතුමා චීන ජාතික ආයෝජකයින්ට ඇරයුම් කළේ ය.
බීජිං හි රාජ්‍යතාන්ත්‍රික ප්‍රජාව සහ ව්‍යාපාරික ප්‍රභූන් 600 දෙනෙකුට අධික පිරිසකගේ සහභාගිත්වයෙන් පැවති මෙම සංස්කෘතික රාත්‍රියට සමගාමීව, චීන සන්නාම ජාත්‍යන්තරකරණය සහ චීනයේ තීරය සහ මාර්ගය වැඩපිළිවෙල ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම පිළිබඳ සාකච්ඡාවක් ද පැවැත්විණි. ශ්‍රී ලාංකික ව්‍යාපාර/ නිෂ්පාදන, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ දිළිඳු ප්‍රජාව නඟා සිටුවීම සහ දරිද්‍රතාවය තුරන් කිරීම සඳහා සුවිශේෂී දායකත්වයක් සපයන සහ ප්‍රතිලාභවලින් සමන්විත චීන වෙළඳපොළ වෙත පුළුල් ලෙස ප්‍රවේශ වීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවෙන් පසුවන බවද ආචාර්ය කොහොන මැතිතුමා මෙම සාකච්ඡාව අතරතුර අවධාරණය කළේය.
