On June 30, 2020 Ambassador-Designate of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, Prof. M.D. Lamawansa had a meeting with Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Botirzhon Asadov. Ambassador-Designate Lamawansa is concurrently accredited to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Heads of Mission expressed their vision on the development of bilateral relations between the countries and identified several areas for further cooperation.
The Ambassadors shared experiences both on Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan in combating terrorism, separatism, extremism and measures to be taken for preventing drug-addiction.
Further, the matters related to cotton export, religious tourism, health and education were also discussed.
