Ambassador Chandana Weerasena presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen at the European Commission Head Office in Brussels on 21 June 2024.
Ambassador Weerasena is currently serving as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Belgium, the European Union, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. He is a career diplomat who joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 2003.
He has also previously held a number of other diplomatic ranks in Sri Lanka Missions in Tokyo, Canberra, and New Delhi. Ambassador Weerasena holds two Masters Degrees from the Australian National University. He graduated from the University of Sri Jayewardenepurawith a ‘Bachelor of Commerce’ degree and is a past student of Ampitiya Berrewaerts College, Kandy.
