Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka Wijayanthi Edirisinghe visits Buddhist and Hindu Temples in Bangkok

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe and the Embassy Staff paid a courtesy visit to the revered Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan (Wat Pho Temple). They also met with its esteemed Abbot, Most Venerable Phra Thepsithikarn during the visit.

Most Venerable Phra Thepsithikarn warmly welcomed the Ambassador and the staff, and highlighted the long-standing ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand as two countries deeply rooted in Buddhist tradition. The Abbot bestowed blessings upon the Ambassador, wishing for continued harmony and cooperation between the two nations.

During the courtesy visit, the Ambassador engaged in discussions on initiatives aimed at strengthening cultural exchanges and enhancing Buddhist relations between the two countries.

Wat Pho, known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok, attracting visitors from around the world. The temple is renowned for its stunning architecture and intricate murals.

Ambassador Edirisinghe also visited the Maha Mariamman Hindu Temple where she was warmly received by the Head Priest and the President of the Hindu Temple.

The Head Priest conducted a traditional blessing ceremony with prayers for peace, prosperity, and continued development of the people of Sri Lanka and Thailand.
