Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman O.L. Ameer Ajwad met with the newly appointed President of Oman Investment Authority (OIA) Abdulsalam Al-Murshidi on 31 August 2020 and discussed on the potential bilateral economic collaboration between Sri Lanka and the Sultanate of Oman. Ambassador Ameer Ajwad also briefed President Al-Murshidi on the investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka in different sectors in which both countries have mutual interests.
It was highlighted during the discussion that as the two nations sharing the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka and Oman have immense potential to deepen bilateral economic engagement.
Oman Investment Authority (OIA) was recently established by Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman with larger mandate and appointed Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi as its President with a rank of Minister.
First Secretary of the Embassy W.D.N.M. Abeysekara accompanied the Ambassador during the meeting.
