Ambassador Ameer Ajwad Calls on the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman Ameer Ajwad called on the new Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef on 20 October 2020.  Advisor to the Omani Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Commissioner General of Oman Expo 2020 - Dubai Mohsin Khamis Al Balushi as well as several other high ranking officials of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman participated in the meeting.

Ambassador Ameer Ajwad and Minister Al Yousef had a productive and focused discussion on ways and means for the promotion of bilateral economic cooperation in different sectors of mutual interest. They also emphasised the importance of promoting more active interactions between the entrepreneurs of Sri Lanka and Oman and to explore new opportunities in trade and investment between the two countries. Minister Al Yousef hailed the recent imports of frozen chicken from Sri Lanka to Oman for the first time ever and pointed out that there is enormous potential for bilateral trade in multiple sectors between the two countries. They also agreed to continue to engage frequently in order to enhance bilateral trade and investment flows between the two countries.

First Secretary of the Embassy W.D.N.M. Abeysekara accompanied the Ambassador to the meeting.
