The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo collaboration with Foreign Correspondents Club (FCCJ) of Japan organized a Ceylon Tea Promotion event, “Afternoon Tea; Learn about Ceylon Tea” at the FCCJ on 11 June 2022 for over 60 guests who were keen to experience Sri Lankan tea culture.
Addressing the gathering, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Japan Sanjiv Gunasekara spoke of high-quality Ceylon Tea and its numerous health benefits. He invited the audience consume more Sri Lankan products such as Ceylon Tea, that has a global foot print, which would help rebuild the Sri Lankan economy.
With a view to popularizing Ceylon Tea among Japanese consumers, there were several presentations educating the audience on the origins of Ceylon Tea and its historical journey to being one of the world’s best quality teas.
A presentation bythe main sponsor of the event Nelson Teas Pvt Ltd, elaborated on the uniqueness of Sri Lankan tea and evolution of the Ceylon Tea market in Japan.
There was a demonstration of the brewing of Ceylon Tea and guests were given the opportunity to taste Ceylon Tea infused cocktails along with Sri Lankan savoury and sweet refreshments.
Each Invitee was presented with a gift pack containing regional varieties of tea by Nelson Teas Pvt Ltd.
