The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bahrain, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka-Bahrain Friendship Forum and the Sri Lankan Toastmasters Club of Bahrain, successfully conducted a guest lecture on 06 November 2024, at the Ramada Hotel, Adliya. The Lecture focused on corporate legal advisory and the challenges faced by employees in today’s complex occupational landscape. The keynote speaker Professor Dr. AbdelGadir Warsama Ghalib, Founder CEO & Principal Legal Counsel of AbdelGadir Warsama Legal Consultancy, a distinguished expert in corporate law shared his extensive knowledge and experience with a diverse audience.
The event attracted professionals from various sectors, including IT professionals, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, accountants, human resource managers, and representatives from local institutions. Professor Dr. AbdelGardir’s lecture covered critical aspects of corporate legal frameworks, labour law in Bahrain, indemnity and compensation matters, and best practices in managing corporate legal challenges.
In her opening remarks, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.M.G.R.R.K. Wijeratne Mendis highlighted the inaugural address of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake quoting, “No parent in this country should have to worry about their child’s future. Every parent deserves the right to provide their child with access to quality schools and education. We are fully committed to securing the future of the next generation by ensuring excellent education for all children. By fostering knowledge, attitudes, and skills, we are building a promising future for the young generation of our country.”
The Ambassador emphasized that this lecture was organized in line with the Sri Lankan President’s policy priorities in order to enhance skills among young professionals which is essential to bridging economic and social development gaps. She noted that enhancing the knowledge and skills of Sri Lankan professionals through such events strengthens Sri Lanka’s economic and social development by building expertise and fostering people-to-people connections within the international community.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka organized this lecture as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue and providing valuable resources to enhance corporate governance and legal knowledge within the community.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, allowing participants to gain further insights from Professor Dr. AbdelGadir, reinforcing the Embassy’s dedication to supporting professionals in Sri Lanka and Bahrain in addressing current legal challenges and fostering business relations. The event was also attended by Minister and Head of Chancery of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Manama Madhuka Silva, Head of the Employment and Welfare Section of the Embassy Swarna Rathnayake, and other members of the staff.
