 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia Calls on Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia Omar Lebbe Ameer Ajwad called on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Adel Al-Jubeir at the Foreign Ministry Headquarters in Riyadh on 14 August 2024.

Extending a warm welcome to Ambassador Ameer Ajwad to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Minister Adel Al-Jubeir recalled longstanding mutual cooperation between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia at bilateral and multilateral fora and emphasized the importance of further enhancing bilateral interactions between the two friendly countries. Minister Al-Jubeir also appreciated Sri Lanka's support to Saudi Arabia's bid to host Expo 2030.

In response, while thanking for the hospitality extended by Minister Al-Jubeir, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad underscored potential areas for bilateral and multilateral cooperation including global issues such as climate change. Ambassador Ameer Ajwad also expressed his country’s gratitude and appreciation for the various humanitarian programmes that are being carried out by KSrelief under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques,  King Salman bin Abdulaziz. The Ambassador reiterated Sri Lanka's commitment to working closely with Saudi Arabia to partner with latter’s Vision 2030.

Minister Adel Al-Jubeir is also presently serving as a Member of the Council of Ministers and an Envoy for Climate Affairs of Saudi Arabia. He was the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Head of Chancery/Minister of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh Mohamed Anas.
