76th National Day Celebrations of Sri Lanka in the State of Israel

The 76th Anniversary of Sri Lanka’s Independence was celebrated at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the State of Israel on 04 February 2024 with the members of Sri Lankan community in Israel and Israel well-wishers.

The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Israel Nimal Bandara followed by the singing of the National Anthem of Sri Lanka.  A two-minute silence was observed in honour of all the national heroes and members of the joined forces who had sacrificed their lives for the motherland.  Multi-faith religious observances were followed by the reading out of the National Day messages of the President, Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Nimal Bandara pointed out that even the country is facing economic difficulties, under the able leadership and proper direction of the President, Sri Lanka is  progressing in the right direction.

The Ambassador also thanked the Government of Israel for giving more job opportunities for Sri Lankans. He thanked the Sri Lankan migrant workers in Israel for their commitment and hard work during this  difficult period.

The members of the Sri Lankan trade community in Israel, retired Sri Lankan Military officials, a Sri Lankan origin lady member of Israel Army, members of Israel – Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka Honorary Consuls in South Israel and Northern Israel also participated in the event.
