Sri Lanka High Commission in Dhaka Officially Commences Work for the Year 2024

The staff of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Dhaka, Bangladesh ceremonially commenced work for the year 2024 with a special programme held at the High Commission premises on Monday, 01 January 2024.

The programme commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by the High Commissioner Dharmapala Weerakkody followed by the singing of the national anthem by the staff. Afterwards, two minutes silence was observed to commemorate the war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland. Thereafter, the staff of the High Commission took the “Oath of Public Servants” pledging to provide an efficient and effective service to the public with firm determination and utmost dedication.

Addressing the staff, the High Commissioner extended best wishes for the New Year and highlighted the importance of the public officials discharging their duties efficiently for the benefit of all Sri Lankans adhering to the policies of the Government of Sri Lanka. The High Commissioner also requested all members of the staff to make their active contribution to promote Sri Lanka – Bangladesh bilateral cooperation for the development of the two nations.

The programme concluded with partaking of milk rice, sweetmeats and tea.
