In order to alleviate difficulties and inconveniences of Sri Lankan workers, the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Malaysia conducted a mobile consular service in Song Lin Garment Sdn Bhd, at Batu Pahat in the State of Johor where the majority of Sri Lankans in Malaysia are employed.
This enabled the Sri Lankan migrant workers to avail consular services without obtaining leave and spending hard earned money to come to Kuala Lumpur. More than seventy Sri Lankans availed this opportunity to submit passport applications, renew their registration with Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment and authenticate documents.
Others utilized this opportunity to obtain advice on procedural matters.
