The Sri Lanka High Commission in Malaysia commemorated the Poson Festival at Buddhist Mahaviharaya in Kuala Lumpur with a large gathering of Sri Lankan community and Chinese Buddhist community in Malaysia.
The Celebrations commenced with a beautiful pageant with Buddhist flags, sesath and oil lamps. Subsequently the religious observances were conducted by the Maha Sanga and a speech was delivered by the Chief High Priest of Buddhist Mahaviharaya, Most Ven. Dathuk Sri Dhammaratana Nayaka Maha Thero, emphasizing the importance of the Poson Full Moon Poya Day for Sri Lankan Buddhists and the impact made by the arrival of “Arahat Mahinda” towards the social and cultural well-being of the Sri Lankan people.
High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Air Chief Marshal (Retd) Sumangala Dias appreciated the Buddhist Associations and Buddhist community in Malaysia particularly in Kuala Lumpur for their efforts and contribution made towards continuance of the Therawada Buddhist culture in Malaysia.
All the staff members along with their family members took part in the Poson Bhakti Gee program and which made the Poson Full Moon Poya Day Celebrations more colourful and graceful.
