Ambassador Wishwanath Aponsu shares Iftar with children in the Islamic Republic of Iran

On 21 April 2023, the last day of the Holy month of Ramazan, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Islamic Republic of Iran G. M. V. Wishwanath Aponsu and the Embassy staff shared Ramazan Iftar with the children of the Keramat Orphanage located in Tehran, Iran, a non-profit children charity organization, and donated food stuff and essential medicine items. The programme was one of the charity projects of the Embassy to provide necessary provisions to children.

Ambassador Aponsu was welcomed by the staff members of the orphanage, who gave a tour of the house. A total number of 80 orphan children, between 4 to 14 years old, are residing in Keramat orphanage with 07 staff and instructor who voluntarily take care of the children. Highlighting the importance of empathy and extending support to vulnerable children, he expressed that the month of Holy Ramazan is all about inclusivity and the need to step up and help those in need. After spending time with the children and their caregivers, the Sri Lankan envoy thanked all for making the Iftar evening very special.

While making a brief presentation, the Manager of the Keramat Children orphanage Fatemeh Salmani appreciated the donation and comprehensive speech made by the Ambassador and described this visit as an important event at the Keramat Children orphanage. During the simple celebrations there were performances by the children to entertain the visitors.
