As a part of the Embassy’s cultural and religious outreach programe, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Lebanon organized a ceremony to baptize a new born baby to Sri Lankan Catholic parents in Lebanon on the 5 June 2022.
Ambassador Shani Calyaneratne Karunaratne, the staff of the Embassy andthe Founder and Chairperson of the Rathnadeepa Migration Board Kusum Kodikara organized the event.
Archbishop Emiretus of Zahle, Furzol and Greek Melkite of Lebanon, His Eminence John IssamDarwish and Father Andre presided and conducted the ceremony at the Beirut St. John Chrisostom Cathedral. The baby is little Akesh Divon Soysa, 2 months of age, son of Thilini and Priyal Damian Soysa.
A letter sent from the Vatican, from the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue emphasizing the importance of religious harmony, was translated to Sinhala and was read at the service. Members of the diaspora representing Rathnadeepa international Migration Board where Thilini Soysa is the Secretary, members of some other organizations in Lebanon also attended the ceremony and offered their good wishes to the happy Family. For the first time in the history of the Lebanese Catholic church the Baptism Certificate was issued in Sinhala with a copy in English. God Father of the baby is NuwanKodikara and God Mother is ThushariSoysa.
At the end of the ceremony, a sumptuous Sri Lankan banquet was hosted at the Cathedral.

තානාපති කාර්යාලයේ සංස්කෘතික හා ආගමික ප්‍රවර්ධන වැඩසටහනේ කොටසක් ලෙස, ලෙබනනයේ හා සිරියාවේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති කාර්යාලය විසින් 2022 ජුනි 5 වන දිනශ්‍රී ලාංකික කතෝලික දෙමාපියන්ට අලුත උපන් බිළිඳෙකු බෞව්තිස්ම කිරීමේ උත්සවයක් සංවිධානය කරන ලදි.
තානාපතිනි ශානි කල්‍යාණරත්න කරුණාරත්න මැතිතුමිය ඇතුළු තානාපති කාර්යාල කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය මෙම උත්සවය සංවිධානය කළහ.
Zahle, Furzol හි අගරදගුරු අතිඋතුම් ජෝන් ඉසාම් ඩාර්විෂ් (Archbishop Emiretus of Zahle, Furzol and Greek Melkite of Lebanon) සහ අන්ද්‍රේ පියතුමන්ගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් බේරූට් ශාන්ත ජෝන් ක්‍රිසොස්ටම් ආසන දෙව්මැදුරේ දී උත්සවය පැවැත්වීය.
තිළිණි සහ ප්‍රියාන් ඩේමියන් සොයිසා දෙපළගේ පුත්‍රයා වන වයස මාස 2ක් වන අකේෂ් ඩෙවෝන් සොයිසා දරුවා වෙනුවෙන් මෙම බෞව්තිස්ම උත්සවය පැවැත්විණි.
ආගමික සහජීවනයේ වැදගත්කම අවධාරණය කරමින් වතිකානුවේ අන්තර් ආගමික සංවාද සඳහා වූ පාප්තුමාගේ කවුන්සිලයෙන් ලැබුණු ලිපියක් ද සිංහලට පරිවර්තනය කර දේව මෙහෙයේදී කියවන ලදි. එම දේව මෙහෙයේදී සිංහල ගීතිකා තුනක් වන ”නමෝ මරියනී”, ”ජේසුනි ඔබ ඉස්සර වෙලා”, ”ජේසු ජේසු ඔබ ඉන්නවා” යන ගීත පැමිණ සිටි ගායක හා වාදක කණ්ඩායම විසින් ගායනා කරන ලදි.
තිළිණි මහත්මිය ලේකම්වරිය ලෙස කටයුතු කරන රත්නදීප ජාත්‍යන්තර විගමණික මණ්ඩපය නියෝජනය කරන විගමණික සාමාජිකයින්, ලෙබනනයේ තවත් සංවිධාන කිහිපයක සාමාජිකයින් ද උත්සවයට සහභාගී වී මෙම දරුවාට සහ දෙමව්පියන්ට සුබ පැතුම් පිරිනැමීය.
ලෙබනන් කතෝලික පල්ලියේ ඉතිහාසයේ පළමු වතාවට බෞව්තිස්ම සහතිකයක් සිංහලෙන් සහ පිටපතක් ඉංග්‍රීසියෙන් නිකුත් කරන ලදී. බිළිඳාගේ පංඥා ලෙස නුවන් කොඩිකාර මහතාත් දෙවියන්ගේ මංඥා ලෙස තුෂාරි සොයිසා මහත්මියත් කටයුතු කළ අතරඋත්සවය අවසානයේ දී දෙව්මැදුරේ දී ශ්‍රී ලංකා භෝජන සංග්‍රහයක් ද පවත්වන ලදි.
