As a part of the ‘One Belt, One Road’ Initiative, for further integration and cooperation with the international tea industry,  China Tea Marketing Association, invited Consul General in Guangzhou, Priyangika Dharmasena to make a presentation on Sri Lanka’s tea, at the  ‘International Tea Industry Innovation and Integration Development Forum under the theme ‘Tea Makes the Future Better’

Consul General Dharmasena, in her presentation on ‘Ceylon tea: Sri Lanka’s gift to the world’ on 23.05.2019, briefed on the evolution of the tea industry in Sri Lanka, the nature of ‘Ceylon tea’, the method of production, teas of the seven regions and health benefits of tea. The Consul General also emphasized the fact that Sri Lanka is the largest exporter of Black Orthodox tea and the fourth largest producer of tea in the world.

Other presentations at the Conference were by Mr. Shen Weiwei, Director of Industry development, China Tea Marketing Association, Ms. Xiong Jia, General Manager, of Hunan China Tea & Co Ltd, Mr. Dipack Banjade, Acting Consul General of the Consulate of Nepal and Dr. Chen Wenpin, Department of Tea Science, South China University of Agriculture.
