Sri Lanka Embassy in Jordan organizes candle light vigil in remembrance of the victims of Easter Sunday Terrorist Attacks

Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jordan organized a candle light vigil followed by a special mass in remembrance of the victims of Easter Sunday horrendous terrorist bomb attacks in Sri Lanka.

The event, which was organized by the Embassy in collaboration with the Bisharath Roman Catholic Church in Amman and the Sri Lankan community resident in Jordan, was attended by many Sri Lankans form all faiths.

Sri Lankan Rev. Father Alex Weerasooriya having conducted the special mass, addressed the gathering. “No religion advocates killing and murders, and the murderers cannot be martyrs” he said.

Dr. Mohamed Al Soos, offering Islamic prayers, said that Islam never advocates killing as the holy Quran clearly states that “taking one’s life is tantamount to killing whole humanity and saving one life is equal to saving whole humanity”

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Jordan Mr. A.L.M. Lafeer stated that, this heinous terrorist attack cannot be justified by any means and that it angers him beyond words adding that perpetrators can never be humans, let alone their religious identity, terrorism, in which ever form  will be defeated and uprooted in Sri Lanka, he further said.

The religious dignitaries, vehemently condemning this crime offered prayers for the lost souls and the speedy recovering of those who injured. They also wished and prayed that Sri Lanka recovers fast from this tragedy.
