On an invitation of the Federal President, Mr. Joachim Gauck, the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the Federal Republic of Germany visited the Southern Baden region in the Southwest of Germany. H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Sarath Kongahage participated in the visit as a member of the delegation of Ambassadors.

In the city of Freiburg, the visitors were welcomed by Lord Mayor Dieter Salomon and Baden-Württemberg Minister President Winfried Kretschmann. During the guided tour of the Cathedral of Freiburg, the visitors were entertained by Archbishop Robert Zollitsch, the Chairman of the Conference of German Bishops. The visitors were then welcomed at the town hall of Freiburg.
During the visit, Ambassador Kongahage had several cordial conversations with high-ranking personalities from the German political scene and colleagues of the Diplomatic Corps about the present situation in Sri Lanka.
