The Embassy of Sri Lanka together with the Philippine-Sri Lanka Friendship Association held Sinhala Tamil New Year celebrations at San Lorenzo grounds, Makati on the 21st April 2013from 3.00 – 8.00 p.m.
The Sri Lankan community in the Philippines, members of the Philippine-Sri Lanka Friendship Association, members of the Philippine-Sri Lanka Business Council and well wishers were present at the occasion.

Ambassador Nawalage Bennet Cooray wished the participants a prosperous New Year and invited them to savor the traditional New Year sweets prepared.
The evening was lined up with several New Year games for both children and adults. The highlight of the event was the cricket match between the University Students team, Shangri-La OJT team and Asian Development Bank team where Shangri - La team claimed the Championship Trophy.
Lime and spoon race, bursting balloons, musical chairs, were some of the games which children enjoyed while eating yoghurt, Kana Mutti bindima, Musical chairs and tug of war were some of the games lined up for the adults.
The evening concluded with the Award ceremony followed by dinner.
