A taxi campaign was organised by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Berlin in collaboration with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau during the ‘October Festival’ in Munich from 22nd September to 7th October 2012. The purpose of this project was to promote Sri Lanka as a destination for Tourism with unique aspects. The October Festival is held annually in Munich, which is visited by more than 6.9 million people from various parts of Germany and neighbouring countries.

During the festival, 100 taxies were plying on roads of crowded historical Munich city day and night with posters on Wildlife, Adventure Sports, Cultural Heritage, Ayuruveda Treatments and Beaches of Sri Lanka. A flyer with facts on Sri Lanka in German language was also distributed along with the taxi road show.
According to Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Germany is the third biggest market and arrival of German tourists has increased 46% in the month of September 2012.
