The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai in association with the Kala Bhavan in Thane, Mumbai inaugurated a photographic exhibition under the theme of “ The Buddhism in Sri Lanka”. The exhibition was opened to the public from 8th to 11th November 2012. The Mayor of Thane, Harishchandra Patil, representing the political party of Shiv Sena and the Electoral Member of the Republican Party of India, Asha Babasaheb Kamble, participated at the inauguration ceremony.

The exhibition included sixty colorful photographs taken by Chandrakant Ghatge, an internationally recognized photographer during his recent visit to Sri Lanka’s Buddhist Temples and Buddhist cultural sites. The exhibition reflects a cross section of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan culture and the living pattern of its people enlightened by Buddhism.
The Consulate has arranged to exhibit the photographs in a number of International Schools in Mumbai in coming months to further strengthen the unique cultural bond between Sri Lanka and India.
