The Sri Lanka Embassy in Jordan celebrated the Poson on Monday 4th June 2012 at the Embassy premises with the assistance of Colombo Cargo of Jordan. The Embassy premise was decorated with Buddhist flags, Vesak lanterns and colourful illuminations for the occasion. The replica of Mihintalawa rock put up in the Embassy premises, depicting the arrival of Arahath Mahinda Thero to Sri Lanka was one of the main attractions in the decorations.
Around 800 Sri Lankans living in Jordan participated at this ceremony.
Ven. Pathalangala Dhammadeva Thero of the Athurugiriya Seevali Asapuwa who was specially flown from Sri Lanka to Jordan, with the courtesy Colombo Cargo, conducted Dhamma Sermon.
The Sri Lankan community in Jordan served “dansal” to the people gathered at the occasion.
