The Embassy of Sri Lanka and Tea Promotion Unit in Warsaw together with Auto Creation Association in Poland organized a Sri Lankan Live Cooking Show and tea tasting event on a ferry in Vistula River which is the main river in Poland, on 27th August 2009.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka and Tea Promotion Unit in Warsaw together with Auto Creation Association in Poland organized a Sri Lankan Live Cooking Show and tea tasting event on a ferry in Vistula River which is the main river in Poland, on 27th August 2009.
The main objective of the event was cooking and acquainting the guests with Sri Lankan cuisine, tradition and culture. More than 100 visitors including travel agents, tea importers, members of Polish community and some Sri Lankans participated in this event.
The event began with the Sri Lankan National Antnem and the lighting of the oil lamp. The Charge d’ Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Sri Lanka, Mrs. S.W.A.B.M.C.M. Kandepola, welcomed the guests ,spoke of the island nation , and thanked the guests for their participation in the event. Additionally, Mrs. Kandepola. underlined that Sri Lanka is open to foreign tourists and investors. This was followed by a presentation of food items, and spices and a live cooking show.
All the participants at the meeting took part in preparing Sri Lankan dishes such as Dhal Curry, Potato devil, Yellow Rice, Egg Hoppers, Kottu Roti and traditional salads etc, Guests savoured the prepared dishes and drank Sri Lankan tea, specially prepared for this event by Sri Lankan Tea Board. The food and tea was appreciated by all present.
The Embassy exhibited many pictures and banners of Sri Lanka’s heritage and a few Sri Lankan recipes were translated into the Polish language and distributed among visitors.
