The Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay will undertake an Official visit to Sri Lanka from 09 to 12 April 2015 on an invitation extended by President Maithripala Sirisena.

PRESIDENT MAITHRIPALA SIRISENA CONCLUDES SUCCESSFUL STATE VISIT TO PAKISTAN - 5th to 7th April 2015

At the invitation of President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan, President Maithripala Sirisena paid a State visit to Pakistan from 5th to 7thApril 2015. This is the first visit by President Sirisena to Pakistan since his election in January 2015.

President Maithripala Sirisena to undertake a State visit to Pakistan : 05th - 07th April 2015

President Maithripala Sirisena will undertake a State visit to Pakistan from 05 to 07 April 2015 on an invitation extended by President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan. 

During the visit, President Sirisena will meet with President Mamnoon Hussain, hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and also meet with other Pakistani dignitaries. President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will witness the signing of several bilateral instruments.

President Maithripala Sirisena Undertakes Successful State Visit to the People’s Republic of China : 25 to 27 March 2015

H.E. Maithripala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka paid a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China from 25 to 27 March 2015 on the invitation of H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China.  During the visit, President Sirisena also met with H.E. Li Keqiang, Premier, and H.E. Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.  This was President Sirisena’s first visit to China as President undertaken within three months of his election.

President Maithripala will leave for China on a Four-Day State Visit

President Maithripala Sirisena will leave for China this afternoon commencing a four-day state visit on the invitation of President of China Xi Jinping.

The President, along with many other world leaders, is scheduled to attend the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2015, which will be held in Boao, Hainan Province from March 26 to 29 under the theme of Asia’s New Future: Towards a Community of Common Destiny.

Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) is a non-governmental and non-profit international organization with a fixed conference date and a fixed domicile.
Proposed in 1998 by Fidel V. Ramos, former President of the Philippines, Bob Hawke, former Prime Minister of Australia, and Morihiro Hosokawa, former Prime Minister of Japan, BFA was formally inaugurated on February 27, 2001.

During his stay in China, President Maithripala is expected to hold bilateral discussions with his counterpart as well as Prime Minister and senior government officials. The talks will center on further enhancing cooperation between the two countries in areas of trade, investment, tourism, culture, science and technology, and regional and international affairs, in addition to Sri Lanka – China Free Trade Agreement.

Since the establishment of full diplomatic ties in 1957, Sri Lanka has continuously maintained close and friendly relations with China. The two countries have regularly exchanged high-level visits resulting in a variety of agreements. China has emerged as one of Sri Lanka’s key development partners in the recent years.

Sri Lanka was among the first countries to recognize the People’s Republic of China.
