Ambassador of Sri Lanka Meets CEO of Amata Corporation to Discuss Investment Opportunities

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, met with Chief Executive Officer of Amata Corporation Public Company Limited Vikrom Kromadit, on 02 May 2025 to explore avenues for mutual cooperation in trade, investment, employment, and cultural exchange.

During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to engage with Amata Corporation, a recognized leader in industrial zone development and smart city solutions across Southeast Asia. She acknowledged Amata’s role in promoting regional industrial growth and highlighted Sri Lanka’s strategic advantages as an investment destination in South Asia.

Ambassador Edirisinghe recalled the visit of the business delegation from the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce to Thailand in October last year, during which, the delegates visited the Amata Industrial Zone in Chonburi. She stated that the visit provided valuable insights into Thailand’s industrial development model and served as a platform for fostering future cooperation between the Sri Lankan and Thai industrial sectors, and expressed her appreciation for the arrangements made.

Ambassador Edirisinghe extended an invitation for Amata Corporation to consider investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, particularly in industrial infrastructure and smart city development.

The CEO, Vikrom Kromadit fondly recalled his visit to Sri Lanka 10 years ago and expressed his interest in furthering ties with the country. He conveyed his willingness to explore possibilities for providing employment opportunities for Sri Lankans in factories located within Amata’s industrial estates in Thailand. The discussion also touched on potential avenues for cultural collaboration between Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Both parties agreed to continue the dialogue and explore practical steps to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
