
The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai announced a financial donation of Sri Lankan Rupees Twenty-Five Million (LKR 25,000,000) to the “Rebuild Sri Lanka” Fund to support national efforts to strengthen economic recovery, infrastructure development, and social resilience in Sri Lanka to support the efforts country’s efforts in assist victims of the recent Ditwah Cyclone.
This contribution reflected the continued commitment of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai to support Government initiatives aimed at strengthening economic recovery, infrastructure development, and social resilience, while addressing the needs of communities affected by floods and landslides.
The donation was made with the support of the Chief Executive Officer of Tristar Group, Eugene Mayne, and was coordinated by a member of the Finance Team of Tristar Group UAE, Aruna Weerasinghe.
Accepting the donation at Tristar UAE, the Consul General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Alexi Gunasekera, stated that the contribution symbolised the strong bond between Sri Lanka and its overseas community and underscored the importance of support from well-wishers during critical times. He further noted the Consulate General’s commitment to mobilising financial assistance and relief support for Sri Lanka’s rebuilding efforts.
The Consulate General expressed appreciation to Tristar UAE, Sri Lankan community, organizations, Associations, charity organizations and UAE residents who contributed towards this initiative and reaffirms its commitment to serving the interests of Sri Lanka and its people.
