The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Cyprus successfully launched a new initiative titled “Sunday Special Service” in Central Nicosia, aimed at providing a comprehensive range of essential consular and employment-related services to Sri Lankan nationals residing and working in Cyprus.
The services offered during the programme on 09 November 2025, included passport processing, registration and renewal for migrant workers under the SLBFE system, attestation of documents, and assistance with labour dispute settlements.
This initiative was introduced to address the backlog of services that had accumulated following the temporary closure of the Consulate in 2021, and to respond to the difficulties faced by Sri Lankan migrant workers who are unable to obtain leave on weekdays to visit the Consulate in Nicosia.
The event attracted a large number of Sri Lankan nationals, who expressed their appreciation for the timely and efficient services provided in well-structured manner.
The Sri Lanka Students’ Association in Cyprus and members of the Sri Lankan community extended their voluntary support to the Consulate staff, ensuring the smooth and successful implementation of the service.
The Consul General, Niyas, extended his sincere appreciation to the Sri Lanka Students’ Association and the community volunteers for their invaluable assistance and commitment, which were instrumental in the success of this initiative.
The “Sunday Special Service” underscores the Consulate General’s continued commitment to delivering efficient, accessible, and people-friendly services to the Sri Lankan community in Cyprus, while strengthening engagement and support for the welfare of Sri Lankan migrant workers.
