Sri Lankan Flavours entice Indian ‘Foodies’

Responding to the increasing popularity of Sri Lankan food in India, JW Marriott under the auspices of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai organised a Sri Lankan Food Festival at its resort in Mumbai’s suburb of Juhu.

The ten-day event which concluded on 12 October 2025 showcased an array of Sri Lankan dishes prepared by Chef Chaminda de Silva from Sheraton Kosgoda Turtle Beach Resort, Sri Lanka.

Adding a unique Sri Lankan touch to the event the restaurant staff were attired in traditional batikwear and the venue was decorated in colourful masks. Videos on the country’s tourism attractions were screened to offer guests an insight into the island’s scenic beauty and cultural landscape.

Consul General Priyanga Wickramasinghe hosted prominent members of Mumbai’s business and tourism fraternities, chambers of commerce and the media, strengthening connections and promoting Sri Lanka as a preferred travel destination.

The food festival recorded an impressive footfall while serving as a one-stop platform to popularize Sri Lanka’s cuisine, culture, and tourism in Mumbai.
