
Sri Lanka made a vibrant presence at the 20th Beijing International Tea and Tea Ceremony Exhibition (Spring Edition), held from April 17–20, 2026, at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center in Beijing, promoting world-renowned Ceylon Tea and its uniqueness.
The exhibition, spanning a record 30,000 square meters, featured 700 domestic and international tea enterprises across 1,300 booths, showcasing a wide range of teas and tea-related products. Visitors also enjoyed tea ceremonies, tasting sessions, cultural contests, and promotional activities from participating countries, including Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Ambassador Majintha Jayasinghe, addressing the opening ceremony, highlighted the unique qualities of Sri Lankan tea, emphasizing its exceptional taste, refreshing character, and globally recognized quality. Ambassador noted that Sri Lanka’s tea, grown across seven distinct agro-climatic regions, offers remarkable diversity in flavor, aroma, and strength, despite being cultivated within a relatively small geographical area.
During the exhibition, visitors were also given the opportunity to experience authentic Ceylon Tea brewing demonstrations and sample teas from Sri Lanka’s seven renowned regions, categorized according to altitude and climate, namely high-grown, mid-grown, and low-grown teas, each offering distinctive characteristics that reflect Sri Lanka’s rich tea heritage.
Four Sri Lankan tea companies also participated in the Exhibition, showcasing their premium brands and engaging with international buyers, tea enthusiasts, and industry professionals. The Sri Lanka pavilion attracted significant attention from visitors, highlighting the growing interest in Ceylon Tea in the lucrative Chinese market.
Sri Lanka’s participation at the exhibition reflected the country’s continued commitment to strengthening trade ties with China, promoting Ceylon Tea as a premium, high-quality beverage in the international market.
