Sri Lanka Embassy in Poland Celebrates Sinhala and Tamil New Year with Embassy Staff

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Poland celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with a small ceremony held at the Embassy premises, attended by its staff. The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Poland, Priyangika Dharmasena, addressed the staff and highlighted the importance of the occasion, which marks the beginning of the traditional New Year for both the Sinhalese and Tamil communities. She emphasized that the festival is deeply associated with various customs and rituals that reflect the country’s rich cultural heritage. The Ambassador also underscored the profound cultural and religious significance of the celebration, noting that it brings great joy to the people while symbolizing the renewal of life and offering an opportunity for new beginnings.

The celebration included performing the Buddha Pooja, partaking in traditional Sri Lankan sweetmeats, and reflecting on the good deeds accomplished during the past year, while also seeking to rectify any mistakes before embarking on the journey into the New Year.
