Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai Hosted Networking & B2B Meetings between Sri Lankan IT Start-up Companies and Established South Indian IT Companies

The Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka organized a Networking & B2B Meetings between Sri Lankan IT start-up companies and established South Indian IT companies featuring on March 6, 2026, at the Chancery Premises on the advice of the Deputy High Commissioner, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran. This initiative aims to enhance collaborative efforts between the emerging tech industry of Sri Lanka and established IT firms in South India.

A total of 24 Sri Lankan IT start-ups, who have invented AI applications in various fields to be useful in sectors like health care, hotels, construction etc., participated in the session while engaging in a knowledge-building venture with IIT Madras Pravartak in Chennai.  Dinuksha Devesurendra, a participant representing the Sri Lankan IT start-ups, opened the session with a comprehensive presentation on the current status of Sri Lanka's software ecosystem following which each Sri Lankan IT company delivered a brief presentation about their technological innovations, elaborating the practical implications of their applications across various industries.

The response from the South Indian IT companies was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting their admiration for the young talents from Sri Lanka and expressing a robust interest in collaborative opportunities.

In his welcome note, Minister [Commerce] of the Post, G. L. Gnanatheva, expressed his gratitude to the South Indian IT companies, acknowledging their keen interest in collaborating with Sri Lankan start-ups. He also emphasized the significance of this meeting as a pioneering effort in the tech sector, highlighting the long -standing trade ties between India and Sri Lanka, and how this event is a crucial step in advancing the technological alliance between the two nations.

Minister Counsellor & Head of Chancery Harsha Ruparathne highlighted the priority that has been given by the Government to enhance the contribution of IT sector towards country’s economy and emphasized that Sri Lanka should explore South Indian IT sector collaborations to achieve Government’s goal.

The event included a high-tea session, fostering an atmosphere conducive to networking and business partnerships.
