High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Maldives attends Reception onboard SLNS Suranimila

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Maldives, M. Rizvi Hassen, attended a reception onboard Sri Lanka Navy Ship Suranimila on 18 January 2026 in Malé. SLNS Suranimila commanded by Captain Senaka Wahala arrived in Maldives on 16 January to participate in the Trilateral Maritime Exercise DOSTI XVII – 2026 hosted by the Maldives National Defence Force with the participation of Sri Lanka, India, and Maldives from 17 – 19 January.

Addressing the gathering, the High Commissioner expressed his sincere appreciation to the Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Rohan Joseph and Senaka Wahala for the invitation extended to the reception.  While congratulating on the successful conclusion of the Trilateral Exercise, he stated that this Exercise is a testament to close cooperation, friendship and shared commitment by India, Maldives and Sri Lanka to safeguard regional maritime security and address maritime crimes and disasters.

The reception was attended by senior officials of the Maldives National Defence Force, officers of Indian navy and Maldives Coast Guard, Maldives Government officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and staff of the High Commission.
