The High Commissioner - designate of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, Fred Seneviratne, met with Country Manager of SriLankan Airlines in Pakistan, Ruwan Wijekoon, and Officer in Charge for Lahore and Islamabad, Chinthaka Perera along with senior executives from leading travel agencies on 01 July 2025, at the High Commission premises in Islamabad.
The High Commissioner -designate extended a warm welcome to the representatives from the Sri Lankan Airlines and travel industry, expressing appreciation for their valuable contribution towards promoting inbound tourism to Sri Lanka. He also highlighted the growth of Sri Lanka’s tourism sector and its significant contribution to the national economy. Emphasizing the importance of fostering emotional connections, he encouraged deeper engagement to attract more Pakistani tourists to Sri Lanka.
Country Manager Wijekoon extended his congratulations to the High Commissioner - designate on his new assignment. He also provided a briefing on the ongoing success of the Sri Lankan Airlines’ special concessionary travel packages for Pakistani nationals and other foreign travelers.
As part of the event, a ceremonial cake-cutting was organized by the Sri Lankan Airlines, followed by a dinner hosted by the High Commissioner-designate at his Official Residence.
